The Covering Kids and Families Access Initiative (CKF-AI) was a $4 million grant program designed to improve access to health services for children and adults enrolled in Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Funded under the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Covering Kids and Families National Initiative, CKF-AI awarded 19 grants to local pilot projects to:
- Identify and document barriers to the use of health care services for low-income children and/or adults enrolled in Medicaid and SCHIP.
- Develop and test strategies to improve access to needed health care services for the low-income children and/or adults enrolled in these programs.
Grantees investigated, documented, and addressed various barriers to access and developed and piloted innovative programs to improve access to care in each community.
