Linking Medicare and Medicaid data is a critical step in integrating care for Medicare-Medicaid enrollees. This toolkit, created by the Integrated Care Resource Center (ICRC), explains how to request and use Medicare data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Medicare-Medicaid   Coordination Office. Requests are limited to data on dual eligible beneficiaries, and for purposes of care coordination. The toolkit consists of an overview and three modules on how to request: 1) historical Part A and B data; 2) daily or weekly updates of Part A and B data; and 3) Part D data. Toolkit users should begin by reading this overview and then selecting the appropriate module(s) for the type of Medicare data they plan to request. The modules contain links to background materials and all of the forms users will need to submit a data request.

This technical assistance brief is a product of the Integrated Care Resource Center made possible by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The Integrated Care Resource Center is a national initiative to help states improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of care for Medicaid's high-need, high-cost beneficiaries. The state technical assistance activities provided within the Integrated Care Resource Center are coordinated by Mathematica Policy Research and the Center for Health Care Strategies.
