The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 presents many opportunities to invest in the future of Medicaid. In addition to enhanced Federal Medicaid Assistance Percentages, the ARRA includes significant funding to spur adoption of health information technology (HIT). In response, state Medicaid agencies are strategizing about how to leverage these new resources to drive program innovations. Of particular interest to many is the opportunity to increase the quality of health care delivery by strengthening the primary care infrastructure, particularly in high-volume Medicaid practices, through investments in HIT.
During this webinar, state Medicaid agencies, health plans, policymakers, purchasers, and providers learned about specific opportunities for Medicaid presented by HIT stimulus provisions of the ARRA. Speakers provided national, state, and physician perspectives and discussed how Medicaid programs can maximize the impact of HIT-related stimulus funding.
