On October 26, the state of Vermont and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced a new health care innovation: the Vermont All-Payer Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Model. This new ACO model will include Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers and will focus on creating incentives that improve health care value and quality throughout the state. CMS will make $9.5 million in start-up funding available to Vermont in 2017 to support care coordination and boost collaboration across practices and community-based providers.
