The Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) seeks a Program Officer to support its national initiatives to improve care for individuals enrolled in Medicaid with complex physical health, behavioral health, and social needs. This position will work directly with senior program staff to: (1) provide day-to-day project management; (2) contribute to and lead portions of meetings, webinars, and learning collaborative planning and facilitation; (3) contribute to and lead portions of the development of written products supporting providers, health plans, and policymakers in designing programs and services for adults with complex health and social needs; and (4) interface with stakeholders including policymakers, payors, providers, and patients to support complex care project activities.

This full-time, mid-level position will report to a senior-level manager and is based in the CHCS office, near Princeton, NJ. Local candidates are desired; remote candidates will be considered but will be required to travel to the home office from time to time, in addition to the position’s regular travel responsibilities. The primary responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Serve as project manager across various projects, leading tasks such as developing and managing project work plans, tracking to-dos and proactively initiating/supporting follow-up, developing meeting agendas, and tracking funder deliverables;
  • Contribute to and lead portions of stakeholder conversations and meetings;
  • Conduct research and write policy briefs, technical assistance memos, blog posts and presentations on topics relevant to programmatic areas;
  • Support in-person and virtual meetings, technical assistance calls, and webinars through the development of agendas, planning, participant outreach, and note-taking, etc.; and
  • Track, manage and support project activities by assimilating information from e-mails, meetings, and calls to support internal and external project team members.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in related field (public policy, public health, health management, nursing, social work);
  • Excellent project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in teams;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with individuals from varying backgrounds and areas of expertise;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel);
  • Occasional local and national travel required (once COVID-19 has subsided); and
  • Prior experience or familiarity with Medicaid, managed care organizations, health care provider organizations, and/or social services in a health policy or clinical setting is strongly preferred but not required.
