CHCS is seeking a dynamic and highly-organized individual to serve as a Senior Program Officer on child health focused policy and programs including a strong focus on early childhood. The position will work in a team-based structure to design and carry out initiatives that improve outcomes for children from early childhood through transition age. The senior program officer will have responsibility for the day-to-day operation of projects that focus on children receiving publicly-financed health, early childhood services and other human services. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of and experience with childhood policy and practice, some understanding of the related Medicaid financing and knowledge of the systems related to early childhood. This is not a clinical position; individuals with policy experience are sought. This full-time position is based in the CHCS office, near Princeton, NJ, with occasional local and national travel required.
- Work within a team to develop and/or execute initiatives in the area of children’s health and wellbeing, inclusive of early childhood and child health services;
- Provide technical assistance to state and local agencies, health plans, health systems, and other key stakeholders in these programmatic areas;
- Manage assigned projects including developing project work plans and tracking project/contract deliverables, and budget development and management;
- Author policy briefs and develop presentations on topics relevant to these programmatic areas;
- Plan, facilitate, and present at face-to-face meetings, teleconferences, and webinars for project participants; and
- Produce funder reports and other dissemination vehicles highlighting project activities and their impact.
- Master’s degree in public administration, public health, child development, or child health and/or social service-related field;
- 5-7 years of relevant work experience in local, state, or federal health/human service agencies or delivery systems related to the provision and/or integration of services to children and youth;
- Strong interest in children’s health and development, and social policy and practice issues;
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and
- Ability to manage numerous project activities and interface with multiple partners, including states, federal agencies, consultants, funders, and technical assistance providers; and
- Ability to write clear and effective materials for a wide range of audiences.
