Matthew Phan, MSG, is a program associate at the Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS). In this capacity, he provides project management, technical assistance, and logistical support for projects related to integrating care for individuals dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid and advancing more coordinated, person-centered long-term services and supports. Select current projects include the Integrated Care Resource Center and the Grantmakers in Aging Learning Collaborative.

Prior to joining CHCS, Matthew served as a leadership fellow at Wallis Annenberg GenSpace, where he supported the development and implementation of evidence-based programs for older adults, as well as worked with thought leaders in the aging space to combat social issues related to ageism and equitable aging. In a previous role, Matthew interned with the Geriatric Assessment Program at Keck Medicine of USC, working alongside an interdisciplinary care team to provide care plans to older adults with multiple chronic conditions. Matthew also has a background in architecture and home renovation, having previously worked with older adults to introduce age-friendly renovations into their homes, in accordance with ADA accessibility standards and universal design principles.

Matthew holds a master’s degree in gerontology and a bachelor’s degree in human development and aging, both from the University of Southern California.

When not working, Matthew likes to spend time with his family (especially his dog!) and trying to find the best food spots in Los Angeles.
