Managed Care for People with Disabilities Purchasing Institute
A growing number of states are planning expansions of managed care programs for SSI-eligible adults. These states are challenged with determining how to effectively design, implement, and evaluate managed care programs to meet the complex health care requirements of members with disabilities. In response, CHCS developed the Managed Care for People with Disabilities Purchasing Institute
to enhance the capacity of Medicaid managed care programs to serve the SSI-eligible population.
This 24-month program included six state teams that designed, implemented, or expanded enrollment of their Medicaid managed care programs to include SSI-eligible populations. Participating states included California, Indiana, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania,
. These states recieved focused training paired with intensive technical assistance around specific topics, such as the development of new performance measures specific to people with disabilities.
