Through the Center for Health Care Strategies’ National Medicaid Leadership Center, we provide training programs that help health and human services leaders at all levels strengthen their leadership capacity. Our relationship-centered approach supports leaders — especially those working in Medicaid — in building the skills, confidence, and connections needed to drive meaningful, lasting change.

We do this by:

  • Strengthening leadership skills to improve impact and collaboration;
  • Building organization-wide leadership capacity that supports culture change;
  • Developing policy and systems literacy so leaders can navigate with confidence and clarity;
  • Cultivating a pipeline of future leaders connected to the communities they serve; and
  • Creating local and national networks that foster connection, peer learning, and support.

We believe leadership grows over time through reflection and real-world learning. Anyone can lead. New challenges, roles, and environments require ongoing growth. That’s why we embrace leadership as a lifelong learning process and the belief that leadership is a practice, not a title.

We support individuals, teams, and organizations as they define success and chart their own path. We bring tools and lessons from our work with leaders across the country — grounded in the belief that each leader is creative, capable, and resourceful.

Experiential learning is at the core of our work. We believe people learn best by doing. Our programs blend hands-on learning with practical application, including leadership assessments, role plays, case studies, peer feedback, and small experiments leaders can apply directly to their day-to-day work. We encourage learning through experimentation. Leadership development is not a quick fix — it’s steady, meaningful growth that compounds over time.

Effective leadership strengthens the services that people and communities depend on every day. We are committed to developing leaders, teams, and organizations that strengthen systems, support communities, and shape the future of health and human services. We are honored to partner with leaders across the country as they grow, adapt, and lead with purpose.
