Children in foster care often have complex medical and social needs. Ideally, health care for this population is provided in a medical home by providers who are trauma-informed. With nearly all foster children eligible for Medicaid, the program is uniquely positioned to improve their well-being by advancing high-quality, coordinated pediatric physical and behavioral health services.
