States have critical opportunities to strategically invest resources to support more effective substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and prevention. This infographic outlines the current landscape of the substance use crisis in the U.S. and reviews funding streams that states are using to pay for high-quality SUD prevention and treatment services. Drawing from the report, State Principles for Financing Substance Use Care, Treatment, and Support Services, it summarizes 10 practical policy actions that can aid state policymakers and other SUD stakeholders seeking to direct spending to improve SUD treatment systems. The report, developed by the Center for Health Care Strategies, was made possible through a partnership with The Pew Charitable Trusts and support from Bloomberg Philanthropies.
