Position Overview

The Bookkeeper is responsible for recording and maintaining the organization’s daily financial transactions. Main duties include but are not limited to processing invoices, recording cash receipts, and preparing weekly check run.

This full-time, junior-level position will report to a senior-level manager and is based in the CHCS office, near Princeton, NJ. CHCS is operating on a hybrid schedule. For the initial month of employment, this position will be required to report to the office on a daily-basis, Monday through Friday, for training purposes. Thereafter, the position will be required to be onsite two days per week, with the ability to work remotely the other three days.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review all invoices for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and take appropriate actions to resolve.
  • Code and enter all invoices into PROCAS for payment processing.
  • Record payments to journals, ledgers, and other records via PROCAS accounting system.
  • Submit payments along with the accounts payable (A/P) aging report for approval and prepare checks.
  • Submit checks for signature and mail accordingly.
  • Maintain clear, organized A/P and accounts receivable (A/R) records.
  • Record employee expense reimbursements and AMEX BTA expenditures.
  • Reconcile A/P and A/R to the general ledger via account analysis.
  • Prepare grant and contract receipts for bank deposit processing.
  • Record A/R transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records via PROCAS accounting system.
  • Update receipt information (date, check number, and amount) in grants and contracts database (i.e., Salesforce).
  • Maintain purchase order database by clearing/deactivating balances.
  • Provide support with annual audit, annual 1099.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Core Competencies/Requirements

  • Associate degree required with accounting coursework.
  • At least three years of bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of judgement and prioritize work accordingly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with internal team members and external vendors.

Salary and Compensation

The salary range for this position is $54,530 – 76,342. The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this role. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including the candidate’s skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and other relevant factors.
