The Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS) created a virtual learning community for states focused on reducing the inappropriate prescribing of psychotropic medications to children and youth in foster care.

CHCS provided technical assistance to participating states through a webinar series targeted to the issues identified by participants. The webinars featured faculty presentations from experts in the field, foster peer exchange among the states, and help to disseminate promising best practices. Learning community participants also received a monthly e-newsletter with relevant articles, reports, and upcoming events, and have access to a web-based resource center containing a wealth of tools and resources related to psychotropic medication quality improvement.

The Virtual Learning Community was developed as part of CHCS’ Improving the Use of Psychotropic Medication among Children and Youth in Foster Care initiative.
