In 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services developed new guidance that grants states flexibility in providing services to individuals leaving incarceration to improve the reentry process. Part of this guidance includes provisions for delivering Medicaid-covered services through telehealth prior to release and for individuals on community supervision.
This brief, developed by the Center for Health Care Strategies in partnership with the Council of State Governments Justice Center, offers five steps that community supervision agencies can take when partnering with telehealth providers to offer effective telehealth services to people on community supervision.
