Rachel Yard is a senior communications officer at the Center for Health Care Strategies (CHCS). In this role, she oversees communications for several CHCS’ national initiatives, including leadership and capacity building programs, child health-focused projects, and work focused on advancing evidence-based preventive care through Medicaid-public health partnerships. Rachel provides communications strategic planning, writing, editing, and production support across CHCS’ initiatives. She also serves on CHCS’ staff-led equity workgroup, which aims to help foster an organizational culture that intentionally promotes equity internally with staff and externally with partners and in projects.
Prior to joining CHCS, Rachel led a team of project managers at Elsevier — a global publishing company focused on health care and science — where she oversaw the development of customized e-learning systems, online learning modules, and health professional degree programs. She has more than 10 years’ experience in the publishing industry.
Rachel holds a bachelor’s degree in English, Spanish, and Latin American studies from Temple University.
While not at work, Rachel enjoys venturing around Philadelphia with her family, seeking green spaces to counter the city’s bustle, and seeing how many plants she can fit inside her home.
