Across the U.S., the older adult population is growing rapidly, straining state health, Medicaid-financed long-term services and supports, and social service systems. Many older adults face economic instability, increasing care needs, and a shortage of caregivers, all putting pressure on public programs.

In a West Health Mosaic blog post, CHCS senior program officer Torshira Moffett, MPH, and co-authors at West Health Policy Center, outline how multisector plans for aging (MPAs) can help states respond to this demographic shift and related system challenges. Drawing on a national survey conducted by CHCS, the blog post highlights opportunities for states to use MPAs to coordinate across agencies, engage stakeholders, and align policies to better support aging in the community.
