Maternal Health

The U.S. maternal mortality rate is worse today than it was 25 years ago — particularly among Black women, who are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women. Medicaid covers 44 percent of births in the US and 66 percent of births to Black mothers. CHCS works with Medicaid stakeholders to improve maternal outcomes through critical policy and program changes.
